Belonging Books

Belonging Books is more than a bookstore - it’s a place where I feel truly safe, seen, and celebrated as a woman of color. Every single visit is a reminder of the power of representation, with shelves filled with stories of love, joy, and rich, diverse experiences (not just narratives of oppression). It’s refreshing and affirming to browse books where I can see myself and my community reflected in all of our complexity and brilliance!!! I appreciate Belonging Books’ mission and their unwavering dedication to centering BIPOC voices. It’s an incredible third space, a welcoming and intentional environment that invites connection, community, and belonging. Whether I’m picking up something for myself or finding the perfect gift, I always leave feeling enriched and happy. And I can’t say enough about Erica, the owner; she is simply amazing in every way and deserves celebration! Her passion shines through in everything she does. A bonus? The bookstore shares space with The Cordial Eye Gallery, so in addition to finding your next great read, you can also browse stunning artwork and support local artists!!! If you haven’t been to Belonging Books yet, go!!!! We’re truly lucky to have a space like this on Cape!

Wonderful bookstore with a fantastic selection of books highlighting POC authors and a variety of different voices. Just what the Cape needs! The store owner is super nice and helpful.

We visited while on vacation. What a wonderful place! The bookstore shares the space with an art cooperative with local artists’ work on display. The current art exhibit was amazing! The bookstore itself has a wonderfully curated collection of books - something for everyone. The staff member there was so nice and helpful. I would highly recommend!

This bookstore is so cute! It is filling a much desired gap in the community for inclusive places to gather. The books are diverse in subject as well as authors. The owner provides specific recommendations for each of the genres. Additionally, this store provides space for local artists to promote their art. I recommend stopping by, you will not regret it!
