Absolutely STUNNING, airy, spacious bookstore in HV. Mostly book club, eheneral, and litfic and nonfiction, with a small but mighty SFF section and a great diverse YA one. They also had the funniest cards and were putting out some curated gifts (candles, notebooks, etc) for the holidays that looked wonderful.

We were visiting from Alabama with cousins in New York, and I had to visit the book store twice. It’s SO cute and cozy, but what really makes it is how nice the owner and cashier are. The owner took her time in finding my 15 year old Max the perfect book. Also, Lucille her dog is perfect!

I went to Kinderhook Books for the first time this past weekend after wanting to go for some time. The selection is incredibly well curated and the staff is super knowledgable and lovely! It's such a wonderful bookstore and quite chic (we love a killer aesthetic)! The owner, Mindy Kay is really wonderful and so charming and warm! I highly recommend making this a required pit-stop if you're visiting Kinderhook!

Top-notch selection with a wise mix of the new and old. Doesn’t have EVERYTHING and doesn’t try to… which, in my opinion, is a great thing. You can tell by the books they do stock that the owner has a great taste level and tucks it all in a beautifully maintained home snuggled in Kinderhook across from three great little cafes.

I've been on the fence about leaving this review, but they have been open for a while now and there doesn't seem to be any inclination of updating their offerings. They seem to be under the assumption that people only want to read dense philosophical and political non-fiction, or your standard, generic fiction. There is nothing wrong with these genres, but there needs to be some diversity. They stock zero horror, and their combined Fantasy/Sci-Fi shelf is pathetic. I have a better offering in my personal library just with the books I've purchased in the last two months, all of which I had to order online. I would love to support a local bookstore, the world needs more if them, but it appears that the only books for sale are the ones the owner prefers.
