A great, local bookstore with a world view. Good selection of nature oriented books (such as Robin Wall Kimmerer, Doug Tallamy, Barbara Kkngsolver and on...) fiction, non-fiction for all ages. The owner and her daughters are helpful and friendly. They will order books in for you-I have easily used their website for this. If you live in Ardmore, you can walk here! If you don't live in Ardmore, it is worth a trip.

I love this bookshop! It is incredibly cozy and well stocked. The owner is very friendly and the selection is phenomenal. It is an underrated thing for a bookshop but Mavey also has lovely cards and little gifts! Everything you want a small indie bookstore to be.

Mavey Books is a very welcome and much needed addition to Ardmore - and it’s the absolute perfect indie bookstore. Filled to the brim with a wide selection of books for every taste, there’s literally something for everyone. Plus they have book accessories! And tea! And book events! And puzzles! And comfy chairs! Add in the lovely and kind owners (who are always happy to give book recommendations or just chat), and it’s one of my favorite places to spend time (and pick up a few new reads). My TBR is very happy to have found them.

A truly wonderful store. A jewel in the Philly literary scene. Such a cute space with a wide selection. Something for many. I got gifts for the wonderful people in my life. And I'll certainly be back. Thank you Mavey!

I feel so lucky to have Mavey Books just around the corner. It’s one of those rare places that invites you to slow down, think deeply, and engage with ideas that matter. Their shelves are filled with books that nurture empathy, critical thinking, and curiosity — plus a fantastic children’s section that helps young readers see the world with wonder and compassion. Lately, I’ve noticed how hard it can be for small, independent shops that simply try to spark meaningful conversations through books. It’s disheartening to see thoughtful places like this get caught up in other people’s noise. It’s also frustrating to see independent shops like this one get unfairly targeted by people more interested in outrage than understanding. Mavey is exactly the kind of space our communities need — thoughtful, welcoming, and unafraid to encourage reflection. For this it should be celebrated. It’s also a reminder of why independent bookstores matter more than ever in this moment.
Independent bookshops are the heart of local communities. Visit, shop, and help keep them thriving!
