We are a husband and wife team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana who have started a tiny independent bookstore, carefully curated and very nerd centric. We are Latina owned and have a thoughtful eye towards diversity and representation in all our books but particularly in our children's books. We are only 350 sqft (including the backstock and the bathroom) so we pay careful attention to the things our guests are looking so we can stay fresh and enticing. We are one of two indy bookstores in Baton Rouge, and the other one is closing this year! We hope to provide our customers, both locally and online, a comfortable and accepting atmosphere with opportunities to tell stories, buy stories and see yourself reflected on the pages within the store

I was invited to a children’s book reading yesterday and—move over, Barnes & Noble—this gem of a bookstore is Baton Rouge’s best-kept secret! 📚✨ Tucked off Government Street, it’s the perfect blend of a cozy coffee shop and creative bookstore vibes. You can literally smell the books when you walk in—comfort in its purest form. They’ve created the dream setup: comfy nooks, local art on display, and spaces that welcome both adults and kids. I brought my grandprincesses, and they absolutely loved it! Watching them light up during story time made my day. Highly recommend you put down the Kindle, grab your favorite drink, and head over to Government Street. This spot is a must-visit for every book lover in Baton Rouge.

I can’t recommend this indie bookstore enough. It is so charming, it supports neighborhood and other local artists, they have something for everyone and I noticed they were doing some community outreach as well. 100% would recommend supporting this place! What a gem.

I’m visiting Baton Rouge and while here I wanted to support an independent bookstore, Red Stick Reads did not disappoint. The store was fresh, clean, and well organized. They also supported local artists, displaying their journals, cards, and book marks. In addition, the staff was very friendly. So glad I stopped in.

My absolute favorite place in Baton Rouge. This bookstore is so welcoming and cozy. They are doing more activities including crafternoons which are a blast. There is a room in the back with cozy chairs to sit and read. The coffee and snacks are delicious and a great addition!
