Resist Booksellers

This is the BEST bookstore I have been to in VA so far! A great variety of books and VINYLS!!! The staff was amazing, knowledgeable, and helpful. There was a comfy place to sit along with space at the front window. This is the type of bookstore from a movie- definitely main character vibes. They also have events, like open mic nights, so I will be going back to try that out as well. They also have free bookmarks (who doesn't like free knick knacks?). The other items like bags, apparel, and stickers were awesome too! I could have spent all day in this bookstore. If you are in Petersburg, VA, it is a MUST DO.

Was able to finally make it in after shopping online for a while and it didn't disappoint! From books to vinyl, puzzles to candles and card games they have a good assortment to make sure you get what you need. Great seating area to check the books out before you buy and just soak up the ambiance. Shopping there felt like being home if that makes sense. Some HBCU banter between other customers and an overall sense of community. I won't drop a star for the owner being a VUU alum because he did decide to set up shop very close to the illustrious BIG STATE, lol. Let's do our part and make sure we support this local gem!

We stopped by Resist, a Black-owned bookstore that is equal parts gorgeous and cozy. Books, cards, vinyl, and a scent so good you immediately want to bottle it—no worries, I won’t tell your secret. If you’re ever looking for something special, look them up. They ship everywhere, and the vibe alone is worth the visit.

We love coming to Resist! They have a great selection of books for everyone in the family at a really good price. We love that it is black-owned, and the staff is always so welcoming. Resist will always be our bookstore of choice!
