Spoke + Word Books

A shining gem for the community! Spoke & Word Books always has a great selection of new and used books. If they don't have what I'm looking for, the option to special order a book is there. In addition to books there is a selection of stickers, paper goods, and other gifts. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The staff is always kind and helpful. Parking can be a little difficult on the weekends but I don't mind at all. Love this store and it's where I will always think of to go first for books or gifts.

Such a comfortable plane to visit. I feel seen and heard every visit and if they don't carry a title, they'll get it for you (Alan Watts' "Become What You Are"). Also, this is in a perfect location to enjoy other businesses for brunch, to buy candy, purchase comics and walk along the river and local parks. And there's plenty of nearby parking!

This is my new favourite bookstore! Everyone is so friendly and the place is so inviting and cozy. If they don't have the book you want, they're more than happy to order it for you. I love how involved they are in the community. They host great events like free Narcan training and you can tell the owners care deeply.

I went to this store the Saturday before Christmas. It was fairly crowded, but everyone was nice and polite. The bookstore is very sweet and inviting, with books, gifts, and places to sit. While they don’t have a huge inventory, there are enough books to keep you interested. Like any other bookstore, I’d bet they do special orders too. They had someone doing gift wrapping too! Downtown Milwaukie has a number of interesting small businesses to draw you in. This is certainly one of them!
