Twin Star Astrology and Books

I got an astrology reading, and barely any of it actually applied to my experience. It was beyond off. I played dumb and naive - blank slate - to receive the experience and to allow the reader to show herself to me, and just about none of it applied and the overwhelming certainty the reader had, literally telling me who I must be and how I must be based on her personal (mis)understanding of the planets and blend of Roman and Greek mythology and completely disregarding - not even intentionally, just automatically - any input of mine that challenged her biased ideas about me... Just wow. I'm grateful to the experience for freeing me from any trace of fatalism that remained from my years of openness to astrology. I had been open to it on and off since childhood, exploring Vedic, Hellenistic, Evolutionary, etc., always taking everything with a grain of salt, seeing them all as inherently limited frameworks to explore and question and understand self/others, but this reading showed me how simplistic it all really is. The universe is too big for ideas so small. This review is not to judge or negate others for believing whatever they want to believe, but just the reading did something I never expected it would do-- completely drop astrology from my mind. I can't even see it as entertainment. Life is simply too vast for this. So thank you. My life is so much bigger now.

Today I wandered into Twin Star for the first time on a whim- I’m a Portland local and serious student of evolutionary astrology and I must say that I was beyond impressed. While there are many shops to buy beautiful, intentional gifts in the area (ritual candles, crystals, smudge bundles, tarot decks and like one or two self-discovery astrology books), this gorgeous spiritual boutique stands apart as the first and ONLY place in Portland that is owned and operated by professional astrologers! After being greeted by a beautiful woman named Tara with dark, long hair, I beelined for the astrology bookcases and was delighted to find authors such as Rob Hand, Demetra George, Richard Tarnas, Judith Hill, Mark Jones, and Chris Brennan (they even had an Ephemeris!!!). But what blew me away is what happened next- I asked if they had any specific books on Evolutionary Astrology, and Tara responded that they did not, but then immediately went to her laptop and ordered a couple I recommended for the store (not even for me, she said she didn’t want any “missing holes” in regards to genres of astrological studies). We started talking astrology and it turns out we have the same rising sign and have attended the same astrology conference! Tara took the time to ask and listen about a transit that I am currently experiencing- incredibly touching. There were so many gems I wanted to purchase and left with a pillar candle made by Tara herself. I felt like the whole experience was a divine encounter. Thank you, I will be returning.

This shop is so freaking cute! The couple that own the store were helpful and so knowledgeable of all things astrology. So much so that I even scheduled a transit consultation after getting 2 books about my sign and a kids book for my niece. I would recommend their handmade jewelry and candles. So cool!
