Warwick's

As a thriller author, I’ve always enjoyed visiting Warwick’s in La Jolla. It is often spoken of as one of the oldest family owned bookstores in America. The weekend crowd shows they have something special here. The store feels like a true social hub for the La Jolla shopping area. Checking out the thriller section gave me new ideas for my Grant Colson series. The staff is knowledgeable and easy to talk with. I can easily recommend a stop here. The book selection is fun and varied. I found titles I never see at corporate stores which made the visit feel fresh. The attached stationery store is a great surprise with a strong lineup of ballpoint and fountain pens plus an impressive range of cards. When I visited they had their Christmas gift display out and the festive energy really lifted the whole space.

This is a nice and well stocked book and gift store. Half the store is gifts and stationary items, the other half are books. This shop has a little bit of every genre. The store is a little pricey is the only reason why it's 4 starts.

Wowza! Talk about a place that has IT ALL!! you need not go any further. A beautiful, unique gift shop that just so happens to be a Bookstore as well as a Stationery haven!! I went in yesterday as a part of the San Diego Bookstore Crawl and it was packed (Independent Bookstore weekend) but let me tell you the jewelry, pottery, gorgeous bags, etc. just took my breath away. Staff were friendly and so helpful as they understood we were on a time constraint (we were on buses and only had 30 minutes to peruse). I will be returning when I am in the area again. If you are a book fanatic this is your place. I love the added gift items for unique presents. Big bonus are the authors that do book signings. So wonderful to interact with these talented writers.
