Abalabix Books is a small, independent bookstore located on the parking lot side of Brink Street Market in beautiful downtown Crystal Lake. We are a bookstore that exists to foster the love of reading in people through all the stages of their lives. We hope to become a gathering place to talk, rest, relax, read, and learn that becomes a cornerstone of our community. We will always strive to keep our store stocked with books and other literary themed merchandise that is carefully curated to the wants and needs of our community. And, of course, we'll always have George.

What a great downtown Bookstore! The owner was so nice and personable. I love all of the fun small items they have as well. This is my first time at the bookshop and I will absolutely be coming back!

Where shall I start? The unique & fun name? You can read about that. The best host ever? George? Followed ever so slightly by mom & storeowner Diane? We drove over an hour from Naperville (independent bookstore quest) and arrived minutes before closing. Diane couldn't have been more gracious. She spent time with us talking about George, the bookstore, and books. We just loved George (who doesn't). Diane went to the back and brought us a calendar starring George. The bookstore was bright and well-stocked with great titles. After visiting, 114 independent bookstores, Abalabix stands out as a favorite. The city is fortunate to have a terrific independent bookstore, especially such a welcoming and warm one. #never too many books

I recently moved out to the suburbs from the city and was desperately missing my independent bookstores. I found Abalabix this winter and absolutely love it. They have the titles I'm looking for and I always end up finding something new that I wasn't expecting. It is also great having George there too!

Great independent book store! Friendly staff, warm, relaxed atmosphere, cute dog; what more could you want? The only drawback was that, as a small independent store, the selection wasn't as broad as a big box store. The solution was that they ordered everything I needed. 4/5 will go back!
