What a beautiful experience! My friend and I recently booked the Nameplate Workshop and it was everything and more. We both traveled from Jersey City via car on a Sunday afternoon and was able to find street parking easily. Since we were a bit early, we stopped by a coffee shop next door called OneTwoOne Cafe (highly recommend). When it was time to enter the workshop, the room was filled with the comforting smell of incense, books, art, and our nameplate books + piece of jewelry we're creating. Once everyone arrived, we did an introduction which was cool as we got to know where everyone was from and what name they chose for their nameplate. I loved being in a room full of beautiful black women bonding over the nostalgia of the nameplate. Not only did we get a nameplate, we also got to take the book home. Creating my necklace was pretty quick and easy. I also got to see other people create bracelets, earrings, anklets, etc. This was such a fun and unique event I was so happy the owner allowed two more guests as the workshop did fill up quick!

A lovely space! The energy of the space was inviting (very warm and welcoming) and although we popped in during an event, the owner was so sweet and spoke with my friend and I - about the space, the events she has and more. We didn't stay too long because we wanted to respect that an event was going on, but I'll definitely be back to support (via events, books and more).

Such a cute space with a variety of books. I went here with the intention to support a small local black owned business and it did not disappoint. I will be back in the future for events. Order books through their platform, proceeds go to small businesses. Put the dollar back into small businesses and not corporations.

Great bookshop, but it’s more than that! The owner; Darlene host various workshops (via Eventbrite) featuring awesome and artistic events. My first class was “incense making” and it was great! I can make incense now like a champ. My incense smells so good. 2nd class; “brass jewelry making”. I can’t believe the pieces that I was able to make. I made beautiful earrings and two beautiful necklaces. Next, I’m going to attend the “chunky dumpling hand crochet” purse making class. Everything is included with the ticket price. Just show up with a good attitude and a willingness to learn. I find these classes very therapeutic. Highly recommended!
