If you like bookstores that specialize in selling scented candles, cute socks with pictures of cats reading on them, and magnets with drawings of women from the 60's with a witty quip, you should probably go elsewhere. If you love books and reading, this is going to be one of your favorite places in southern Connecticut.

It was a little quaint store. They had all the new books and a small section of used softcover and hardcover books. I bought a book and some cool stickers.

A gem of a local spot! Black Rock Books is cozy, thoughtfully curated and clearly run with a lot of love. The owners are incredibly kind and passionate about what they do. It’s places like this that make a neighborhood feel special. Definitely worth a visit, support small business!

I love having an independent bookstore in the neighborhood, and Black Rock Books is a fantastic independent bookstore! Their selection is well-curated and interesting - I've discovered a lot of recent favorites there based on the recommendations of the owners. They have a great selection of kids books as well. So thrilled to have them here!

Bookstore dreams do come true! This local gem is a haven. Beyond an excellent selection for kids and adults, they host regular events like author signings, workshops, and storytime for kids – always something new to check out! Additionally, they carry goods made by local artists. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and always eager to help. Their cozy vibe and charming decor make it the perfect place to escape into another world. I'm so happy they are a part of our community; their contributions help make it a joyful place!
