This is a fantastic independent, Black-owned bookstore in downtown Bridgeport. There is street parking available on both sides of the Arcade Mall, and it's pretty easy to get in and out of. It's fairly small but they have a nice selection and can order books that aren't in stock in the store. I met one of the owners, Derek, and he was incredibly welcoming. We had a great chat while I stopped in on my lunch break. I'm looking forward to returning!

it was such a pleasure and honor to meet co-owner Karen of black owned Kindred Thoughts Bookstore and explore the gems of their collection. Arlene , Christelle , my son Nico and myself had a wonderful time visiting from Long Island . We learned of the origins of how the store came to be , listened and share travel adventures , Karen introduced us to new authors and works of literature. Christelle was able to obtain the well known 1969 Maya Angelou classic “ I know why the caged bird sings “ and I was suprised to see and obtained “ Badquiat-isms “ Jean Michel Basquiat. I can’t wait to come back again , one of my favorite spots . God bless kindred Thoughts Book store ! see you soon 🙏🏾

This is a hidden gem! I came with no expectations and this quaint bookstore situated on the East End of Bridgeport really took me by surprise. I strongly urge you to come in and spend a little time. The atmosphere is inviting and the proprietors are friendly and knowledgeable. They are also able to get any book that is in print. This is a full service bookstore.

Impromptu and charming first-time visit at "Kindred Thoughts". Owner Derrick (sp?) was most welcoming. Recommended.

Wonderful place, tucked away in CTs first mall (also a gem that everyone should visit) this tiny bookstore is awesome! I called a week ago to get a book, they were sold out but told me i could order through there website. I picked it up in store and had a great experience talking w the owners. Would much rather support their small local business than buy books at any big retailer from now on!
