Bookmarx Books (OH)

BookMarx is far and away my favorite book store. I've been to many many book stores and usually I'm sifting through thousands of books to find something good, but at bookmarx I have to narrow down what I'm getting every time because the selection is so well curated. Last Christmas based on just a vague description, staff picked out four books I didn't even know my sister had on her wishlist! Can't recommend bookmarx enough!

Raven came to Bookmarx in 2015, when I was a sophomore in High School. She was downtown before downtown really became the shopping district it is today. She grew as it grew (though maybe she grew at a fatter - I mean, faster - rate). I come into the shop every day an hour before it opens for the public. As I came in each day, Raven was there to greet me. During this hour, I pack books to ship to other countries, states, or cities; I clean the bathroom and check our supplies; and, most importantly to her, I fed Raven every day. Raven was a very playful cat, especially as we worked to get her to a healthy weight over the last 1.5 years. While I was pulling books to ship out, if she were in a particular playful mood, she’d stalk me behind the bookshelves and then pounce on my feet as I came around the corner. It was both comedic and annoying, depending on the day. During her last few weeks at BookMarx, Raven wasn’t greeting me at the door each day; she’d stay curled up and get up only once the food has been put in her bowl; she’d play, but for not as long. Raven was a fat, adorable, temperamental, and loving cat. As a farmer I look up to greatly said, upon hearing of her passing: Suffer no more, sweet beast. Raven, Bookmarx Cat 2015-8/7/24

A perfect bookstore. Great selection for classical literature, history, theology, and a dedicated section for GKC, Tolkien, Lewis. Just like bookstores in Oxford. John was friendly and helpful, and Beatrice the cat was very friendly too!
