As an avid birder in the Bay Area, I’m so grateful to have a place I know I can find any of my birding needs. They had unique gifts, speciality field guides, and stunning artwork. Was hard to keep my pile small, can’t wait to go back. Chatted with Catherine (who was so kind) who of course, was happy to chat birds— just a great experience and always makes me happy to support a local business.

An absolutely essential stop for all those interested in birds or any & all aspects of our natural world! This charming bookstore is packed with more bird novels, field guides, & resources - new and old - than I could've imagined existed. Also has some great little bird trinkets and gift items. I am so excited to have this sweet little spot in my town!

Buteo Books has an amazing selection of bird and nature books that are ideal for the causal birder or head over heals enthusiast. Plus I love supporting small businesses and they are so friendly.

Buteo Books is an absolute gem and I'm grateful to have it here in San Rafael and so close to San Anselmo. I found great gifts for the bird lovers in my life and I picked up some cool stickers for myself.

Lovely bookstore not limited to just 'birding.' Helpful people work there who can recommend gifts and books. Good for experienced bird people -- or newbies or not bird oriented at all. No judgment! Plus they sell subtle, clear decals to apply to glass doors and windows to avoid bird strikes!
