Absolutely loved this little book shop! Spent a good hour or so here perusing the shelves & looking at the pins/stickers. Both the shopkeepers were incredibly friendly and helpful. They seem to have regular events as well; there was a children’s book reading happening when we came in. It’s definitely got mostly newer stuff, but I was pleasantly surprised to see used titles even for some newer books. You can also put in a request to be notified for used titles that come in or request new books to be ordered for you. I can imagine this being *so* convenient if you live in the area, which I unfortunately do not. The Blind Date with a Book is such a fun concept and I’m excited to see what book I got paired with! Also, good luck Rachael!

I visited Fred & June’s Books on a sunny Sunday afternoon, driving in from Charlotte—and it was well worth the trip. Tucked into a charming brick storefront in downtown Mooresville, this indie bookstore is cozy, beautifully organized, and brimming with personality. The staff were warm and helpful, taking time to explain the layout and different sections of the store, which made browsing even more enjoyable. Inside, the shop has a wonderfully eclectic mix: neatly labeled shelves for genres like Horror, Literary Fiction, Biography, and Philosophy; quirky handwritten staff notes; and colorful displays that make the browsing experience feel magical. Whether you’re looking for a thoughtful memoir, a fast-paced thriller, or a quirky comic-style psychology book, you’ll find something unexpected here. There’s also a quiet, personal touch throughout—hand-drawn bookmarks by local artists, vinyl records under a “coffee” nook, and playful signs like the definition of a “book lover” that make the space feel more like a reader’s living room than a store. If you’re anywhere near the area—or even an hour away like me—this is a place worth slowing down for. Parking nearby is street parking, and is usually easy to find. Bookstores like these keep me scouting for more such bookstores with distinct character.

My first local bookstore and my favorite. The staff is incredible. There are sections of new and used books, cool stickers and bookmarks. They are always playing my favorite artists (and even have some records for sale). They host book clubs and community events almost every night of the week. The Love and Lit book club is amazing and helped an introvert find some new friends. Highly recommend to everyone! Steven and Morgan, thank you for founding a place for the community to come together over our love of books 💖

Fred & June’s Books is exactly what you want in an indie bookstore. The vibes are immaculate, the staff are well read and remember not only you but what you’re reading, the music is playing from vinyls, the bookclubs are inclusive and friendly. The Mooresville community is found in the heart of all this bookstore represents and brings to our city. You will find such a spectacular curated collection of books, new and used, to choose from. Why? Because they carry books you love and books that they are passionate about. They are huge advocates for authors ( indie, traditional, local & far away) and for creating a space in which everyone feels safe and seen. A home away from home. Thank you Fred & June’s for being authentic, friendly & part of our community .
