Recently had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy preformed at Jewish Hospital. Since it was in the early afternoon, I expected some delay. It was much shorter than I expected but we were kept well informed about the delay. Once in the procedure room, the doctor, nurses and anesthesiologist were reassuring, confirmed my identification and gently got me ready. They explained what they were doing and out I went. Woke up in my recovery room looking at my beautiful wife. This is why I love going to Jewish. They are a beautiful, clean, professional group of medical people who care about their patients. For a procedure or surgery I always prefer Jewish Hospital.

Unless I needed the same procedure/condition I would never go back. My physician called ahead of time so I got up in my room fairly quickly. The ER nurse and physician were very calming and empathetic. Upstairs I was moved to a cold dark room at the very end of the hall with nothing but a bed in the corner. The second day I had a male nurse who didn't know I was on medication (even though I went through that in the ER and upstairs the night before.) I had to tell him again and didn't get my am meds till after 2. I asked for simple things (pillow, something to drink, warm blanket) and I never received it. I only saw him when he needed something from me. When asking questions regarding my medical treatment he never knew but said he'd ask (he never got back with me on the answers.) The female nurses were wonderful. The resident Dr.Gopal got me through some very hard times and the chief Dr. O was extremely nice as well. And of course my doctor who did the procedure was wonderful. But that's all I can say about this Hospital I would never go back

I had to give a star, but this hospital doesn't deserve any stars! I will NEVER go to a Mercy hospital again. The nurses are rude, dismissive, and detached. Ehen you press your call button they take their time to respond. I felt like I needed immediate help, but they didn't care. I asked a nurse for a warm blanket and she told me she had another patient she had to get to. I asked her if the other patient was more important than me, but she just walked out my room without responding. The doctors on my case were never on the same page as the other doctors on my case. When I was discharged, my regular doctors couldn't find the records from my stay and I was in this hospital for 13 days! I was in heart failure and they were giving me steroids which make you retain water. If I'm in heart failure I need to get rid of fluid not receive medications that made me retain it! It was a lot! I don't recommend Mercy for emergency care or any other care. I heard 5 code blue calls in one day and they were all in the cath lab. One of my relatives came to visit me one day and one of her coworkers' sister was on the same floor as me and we heard a code blue called and it happened to be her coworker's sister. She died while she was waiting for them to transfer her to another hospital because they were ilequipped to care for her in the condition she was. Because these people take no urgency when you press your call button, this woman paid with her life! I don't know how this hospital is still open! Oh! The food in this place was AWFUL! I don't know where they found the people that take orders, but I kept every ticket and not one ticket was delivered with what I ordered. One morning I ordered hot tea with lemon slices and honey. All I got was a liptin tea bag. No hit water, lemon, or honey. What was I supposed to do with the tea bag? They gave me a fruit plate with honey dew melon that had the rind on it and it so hard I couldn't chew it. Another time 3 Supervisors from dietary came up and took my order for the next day to ensure accuracy, and that order was wrong when I got it. I was on a low sodium diet, but I had my family bring me food everyday because I couldn't get anything correct except a fruit plate for breakfast and a salad for lunch and dinner. It was really sad.

I’ve had 2 surgeries at Jewish Hospital. And several MRI’s. They make you the most comfortable for MRI’s. Both my surgeries, my room was clean, had a nice view, and the staff was excellent. Thank you for taking such good care of me and my family. From the front desk, nurses, and doctors, I was well taken care of. I would recommend Jewish Hospital to everyone.
