Hidden gem basement level feels like starting your own odyssey. Beautifully lit and great structure. Very helpful cashier gave us information on other local bookstores as they didn’t have the one we were looking for. I ended up getting a recommended book though and am happy with the find. Loved the free stickers and quality bookmarks. Difficult to access for those with walking disabilities.

One of my absolute favorite spots in Ithaca! Odyssey Bookstore is cute, cozy, and perfectly cramped in the best way a true bookstore should be. The shelves are overflowing with incredible reads, many of which I haven’t been able to find anywhere else, yet Odyssey always has them. The staff are wonderfully thoughtful and helpful, and ordering books through them has always been quick and easy. I’ve received every special order within a week. It’s the perfect place for a quiet afternoon of browsing and soaking in that warm, bookish charm. Truly my favorite store in Ithaca!

My only disappointment was that I didn't have a bigger budget and more time to spend here! The selection was excellent without being overwhelming. The space was used thoughtfully so that you could browse without feeling cramped or overstimulated. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Tons of recommendations on the shelves as well as curated sections for indigenous authors, local authors, and local topics. I'm certain this place is a local favorite, but was exactly the type of bookstore I look for when traveling. Will absolutely be stopping back in the next time I am in town! **It is a little hidden, but I am not upset at all because it led me to explore the local shops on the other side of the street that I otherwise might not have based on my tight schedule and planned itinerary.

As you walk down the walkway and into the store, you already know you are going to have a serene experience. The workers are amiable and are ready to help you find the book, or rather your next adventure. From poetry to nonfiction, children’s books to the classics, you’ll find what you’re looking for, and maybe some thing you didn’t know you needed. There are even sitting areas for you to begin to explore whatever book you desire. Enjoy 💕

I was excited to visit this cute local bookstore, but my experience left me uncomfortable. While I was there, I saw a postal worker delivering a package politely ask to use the restroom and be refused, while being directed to find a bathroom several blocks away. Two other staff members appeared visibly uncomfortable during the exchange. A few minutes later, I asked to use the restroom and was allowed by the same person; I later learned this was the owner, Laura Larson. That inconsistency stood out. For me, community care means treating people doing essential public service work with dignity and respect. Seeing that not extended here changed how I view this business and where I choose to spend my money. ::Edit after the owner's response:: I am sure of who I spoke to and it was the owner. Her refusing to take accountability and instead giving a generic response passing blame on to staff confirms my decision not to support this business.
