Oliver & Friends Bookshop

Walking the streets of downtown Waterville towards this book shop made you feel happy. Seeing Oliver the cat next to a stack of books on the sign, you feel like you're going to walk into a warm establishment, which you do. Books line every surface and shelf, from new authors to old ones, classic to controversial. They have tons of new arrivals every week to keep the shelves fresh so you never feel like you're walking into the same store twice. If you have specific needs, the staff will do everything to find and order the books you desire to see. They have local authors come in to sign their books, plus host meet and greets, so check their website for the next dates and locations. Closed on Mondays, there's still plenty of time during the week to check them out, weekends too!

Haven't been in often, but have never had any problem finding what I was looking for. Definitely not a big-box-store that throws everything at you willy-nilly, this is a smaller, boutique shop with a marvelous owner, who is both outgoing and friendly, and who was very astute in helping me find what I was looking for. Bought two novels today and am looking forward to reading them both. Had only gone for one which was just released, but she had an earlier one by the same author, so I bought them both. Will DEFINITELY be going back - much more warm and personable than going to Amazon and praying you can find what you want.

What a great little bookstore in a time where it feels like you’re forced to go online for anything you need! She had what I was looking for and ordered what they were out of, and she sends a text when it comes in, great communication! Definitely a bookstore to support!
