This is an amazing little book store! We came and stayed for about an hour! The employee Davis was very knowledgeable, and personable. Highly recommend getting a soda while here for running by Hazard Coffee Co. for a coffee!

Great atmosphere and a lot packed into a small package! Great book selection as well as cool stickers, book marks, and other nicknacks! Nice childrens section, too!

Mandi and Davis were super helpful. Answering my endless questions about which books to select, based on good story line, relevance to Appalachian stories, fiction or non fiction, anything. I'm eager to return. Very comfortable bookstore. Relaxing atmosphere. Cozy and friendly.

Okay look. The Read Spotted Newt is so cute. There are themed shelves—my favorite was the tree-themed shelf with so many books on nature, trees, and outdoors. The person working gave us so many great recommendations—I ended getting two books and some of their cute stickers. There’s also a whole section on local folklore and local authors. The book shop itself is right in the side of the mountain, too. So stop by Hazard Coffee Co and meander up to the Read Spotted Newt.

I stopped by this lovely little bookstore on a recent trip to Hazard and was delighted! Small independent bookstores are so rare. Davis was friendly, kind, and had excellent book recommendations. A trip to Hazard is not complete without a visit to this literary gem!
