Needed that afternoon caffeine kick. Stopped by this cute coffee shop. It hit the spot. The mocha blended was just what we needed. Barista was very friendly and conscientious of my dietary needs. Cute little bookstore too. 😊

Just a WONDERFUL place to be. It's cozy, the coffee is wonderful, baked goods are a bit addictive, and the people there are so kind and helpful. I'm just a weirdo that being surrounded by books, the thick aroma of coffee and sweet smells of cookies can make a bad day into a wonderful one. For me, I've loved being able to work while enjoying the ambience. Park in the back! Come visit these good folks.

You can't go wrong when you combine a coffee shop with a bookstore in an old downtown district. Tried their signature Maple leaf latte or something like that. The flavors blended nicely however I got the small because the large version has the same amount of shots. Small was about perfect but to move to a large without additional espresso would have been too sweet.

Nestled at 101 E. Jackson St. in Gate City, VA, Maple Tree Book Shop + Coffee House is a delightful blend of bookstore and coffee haven, serving up what might be the best scones I’ve ever tasted—especially the blueberry white chocolate chip scone. This place is a must-visit for anyone craving a sweet treat and a cozy escape. The scones are pure perfection: golden and crumbly on the outside, soft and dreamy inside, with fresh blueberries popping alongside sweet, melty white chocolate chips. It’s like a berry patch and a candy shop teamed up to make your morning. Pair it with their Red Rooster Coffee (sourced from Floyd, VA), and you’ve got a combo that could cheer up a rainy day. The menu also features homemade cookies, muffins, and cinnamon rolls, but that scone is the real star. The shop’s vibe is warm and inviting, with shelves packed with over 4,000 new and used books, perfect for browsing or settling in with a latte. It’s got that small-town, Hallmark-movie charm that makes you want to stay all day. The staff are super friendly, and the atmosphere feels like a love letter to Gate City. My only complaint? I devoured my scone so fast I forgot to take a photo! If you’re in Gate City, swing by Maple Tree for a scone and a good book. Grab that blueberry white chocolate chip scone before it’s gone—your taste buds will throw a party, and you might just leave with a new favorite novel!
