I truly enjoy that the selection is done with such intent. Every niche book I have been interested in I have found here as well as popular books I adore. The staff is incredibly helpful without being overbearing and I appreciate that so I don’t feel rushed and the staff always has great book recs. (Also love the zine scene here ☺️)

I have never written a negative review for a local bookstore because I value them too much but I definitely felt unwelcome for the entire 35 minutes I was here. I will say they have a very minimal and specific selection of books, and I struggled to find even most classics, (which they did have some!!) But I think the store is more concerned about a very niche customer base, which is totally fine. I had several books in hand, but after over half an hour of no one asking if I needed help or even so much as saying "hello" to me when I walked in...I ultimately decided I would take my business elsewhere. I love bookstores for the comfort and peace they bring me, this one provided neither comfort nor peace. It felt more like a center for a club that I'm not a member of. (Edit - I see now that several other people have written reviews logging similar experiences that I had. I think it is safe to say this was not an isolated experience)

10/10 I love this bookstore! They have a lot of cute stickers and zines. Their sale section has really reasonable prices. They had alot of nonfiction and diverse selection. I really appreciated that they had a whole section for disability rights/authors. I appreciate that they are still masking.

Had a great selection of zines and stickers, t-shirts, lots of things that make perfect gifts. Was very pleasantly surprised by the curation of the cooking/culinary section and nature related books as these are often not centered in other bookstores. I always walk away with something to add to my reading list, or a gift for a friend, or a treat for myself. I have brought a lot of friends from out of town here who are always amazed at how well curated it is, as there are so few spaces like this, especially in rural areas. Their children’s book collection is incredible. My friends and I will sit and read them despite not being parents because they are just so cute and well illustrated and we didn’t have access to books with those types of messages as kids. They host a lot of community nights, that have an emphasis on COVID precautions which is awesome because I have a lot of friends who are in higher risk groups, and they struggle to find spaces in the city supportive of their needs or are concerned with their ability to access public events.

love checking out skunk cabbage’s selection of books. i’ve purchased fic, nonfic, and poetry here so far and the shop has a wide array of genres/topics/vibes. always friendly staff, love that they still mask up and keep free masks at the door for those that don’t have one handy!
