Skylark is a fiercely Independent Bookshop. We strive to always find new ways to celebrate literature and our community. Some books give us knowledge and perspective; others simply give necessary space to breathe. Putting the right book into the right hands is a deeply meaningful act. We believe that we can find that book for everyone who walks through our doors. We embrace enjoyment, entertainment, and the beauty of Skylark Bookshop.

I am completing all of the “100 things to do in Columbia, MO” book (which they sell) and stopped in on a Friday afternoon. This was a very neat and tidy and well organized store.

This place is awesome! It is suck a wonderful bookstore, filled with all the things that should be there (books!). The staff was anxious to help and very personable. The store has a good mix of literature, and a super-cool children's area. If you want a local bookstore, rather than some big chain, this is the place to go!

I've been go skylark during the low sensory time a few times recently, only to have to listen to the employees talk about personal things behind the counter at a high volume that booms throughout the store. Every time I go, the employees are so unprofessional and ignore me, preferring to gossip and giggle. I've never had a good experience at skylark.

My wife and I have been going to Skylark for a couple of years now, and it's a wonderful trip each time we go in. The staff are kind and helpful, the store has a clean and neat presentation, and the new book offerings at the front are updated on a regular basis. If you want to purchase books that aren't offered in store you can order directly through their site and have it shipped to the store. Local independent bookstores are really important for the community and this store is one everyone should give a chance.

Went during the low sensory hours, instead of quiet I had to listen to the cashier and a customer screaming about generational trauma and general abuse. Was not very low sensory whatsoever. It’s frustrating to see a business advertise low sensory hour and not follow through with it.
