St. John's College Bookstore (MD)

Love this college, where I taught one summer in their graduate program. This lovely, highly concentrated bookstore, epitomizes the "great books" approach to education of the whole school. An inspiring, stimulating spot of ground for anyone interested in the great tradition of our civilization.

Great bookstore in town, especially if you are looking for literature, poetry and philosophy and not just best sellers (although they have good selection of novels too). Currently coffee shop is only open weekdays.

It's a College bookstore. It has every book a student of the college would need, but it's probably only interesting otherwise to fans of the western Canon or to alumni looking to refresh their collection. Since I am an alumnus, it's five stars for me. For someone not an alumnus who is still a bookstore person, maybe three stars.

The Ritz Carlton of Bookstores. There is none better in the entire state of Maryland. Their philosophy books are incredible and won’t be found elsewhere.
