The Book Jewel

I love this locally-owned, neighborhood bookstore. It reminds me of the days when bookstores were more intimate, with helpful staff that know what they sell. But most importantly, they have a CAT! A very cute shop cat that I believe is named Paiges. They even have Paiges merch. In addition to books, they also sell gift and art items. These are things like cards, tote bags, bookmarks, plush toys, and more. Oh and there’s also an excellent kids and young adult section. I recommend this store to anyone looking for a satisfying, cozy shopping and book-browsing experience.

I love The Book Jewel. Independent bookstores are becoming more and more rare so to have one thriving in Los Angeles is a gift to the community. The store is well stocked and especially supportive of literary and poetry events. I've been to a couple of readings here and the staff is very enthusiastic about providing a space for people to share their work. (Both invited guests as well as the community at their open mic.) Parking is easy and ample. If you're a fan of books, poetry, or just nice people, you should definitely stop in and support this community gem.

Came here to look for a book for a friend. They dont have it but they can order the book for you. Nice ambience, and very friendly staff.

This truly is a jewel! Most independent bookstores tend to be pricy but this place! This place was welcoming, affordable, and just sooo cute! The ladies were friendly at the checkout. I attended a reading by the author and gladly purchased a book…ok several! On Sunday mornings you can grab a book and visit a farmer’s market. * for animal lovers they ask that you carry your dog or leave em outside this is the domain of a very fluffy cat
