We were very disappointed with our experience at the Well Read Racoon. Though there were fun book options and trinkets, our experience at check out really dampened our feelings surrounding the store. When asking the woman at the counter about a topic showcased, we were told that we have smart phones to look it up. We also had chosen a used book and, upon check out, were informed that this book had gone up in value and that we had better not be buying it to sell online. The price was then doubled on the used book (granted, it went from $5 to $10 but still felt very wrong as the new price tag was printed). We truly enjoy building our personal library and supporting small businesses, but in these efforts, have never had such a negative experience. The one positive is there is a willingness to discuss books that are in the shop.

I was so happy with my experience here! The layout is very cozy and inviting, and they have a great selection of both new and used books in all genres. The staff was so helpful and knowledgeable, they suggested some great books based on the ones I had picked out and I'm so excited to read them. They also told me that you can order and pre-order books right from the store if they don't have what you're looking for in-stock which is a major win if you love supporting small businesses! Excited to do all my future book shopping here :)
