Tubby & Coos is a queer, feminist traveling independent bookshop focused on underrepresented voices and demanding social justice. We create and curate micro bookstores inside inclusive spaces where all are welcome, with the goal of building and engaging queer community. Our specialty is genre fiction, especially science fiction, fantasy, horror, and romance. The shop is named after the owners grandparents, Tubby & Coo. We envision a future where everyone is empowered, able, and encouraged to tell their own stories, regardless of social class, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, religion, race, age, or culture. Every voice deserves to be heard, and we work to build a world where all voices are equally important. I love this little bookstore. Each time I pop in I find something (or 2 or 3 somethings) so special and different. It's a carefully curated collection of books featuring characters and authors who don't usually get the spotlight. And they have an amazing selection of board games you can rent!

Very cute local bookstore with a penchant for sci Fi. It was tucked behind a chain link gate with a sign, but easy to miss from the road. A feature of this shop is board game rentals. For $10 you can rent a game for 10 days, so you don't have to spend $60+ on a game before you know if you like it.

I love this Place! A few months ago I was in San Diego at an science fiction themed bookstore. The whole time I was there I kept thinking, "too bad we don't have something like this in New Orleans". But while Driving through mid city the other day I remembered that yes, yes we do have a store for the science fiction diehards! So, if sci-fi and fantasy is your thing, this place has everything you'd ever want. Easily the best SF selection in the city. Books are organized in a meticulous way by micro genre. I love it!

My absolute favorite bookstore anywhere. Incredible service, incredible mission, fabulous selection. Their commitment to equity and being a safe space is only one of many reasons why I love supporting T&C's. They go out of their way to be awesome, and they have excellent recommendations!

Nice selection of books (mostly sci fi) and some local authors, with a kids' nook and board game room upstairs. They also carry a selection of games and geeky accessories (tees and toys) and tasty tea blends. Potter fans in particular will love the staircase decor.
