Cute bookshop! All the shelves have wheels attached so the space can be cleared for events. There is also a nice area of coffee tables that I didn’t capture in the pics. A lot of feminist literature.

This bookshop is such an incredible community resource. With author talks, community events, and just plain great literature, this place is well worth a visit. I’ve met so many friends/collaborators at the book talks and signings I’ve been to. Plus, Rachel does a great job curating the book selection, and if they don’t have exactly what you’re looking for, they can easily order it for you! One of the best local grassroots organizations I know of. Support support support.

Every time I walk into Akimbo Bookshop, I am greeted warmly. Rachel is very knowledgeable on the books she has on her shelves. There are plenty of books with a variety of topics. And it’s a local bookstore! Walk in and browse, you won’t be disappointed!

Our initiative helps improve health outcomes for children and their families. Over the summer, we developed a family book club and chose to read, What Happened To You (Conversations on Trauma, Resilience and Healing) by Bruce D. Perry and Oprah Winfrey. It was important to our organization to make a partnership with a seller whose mission and vision are similar to ours. It was a no-brainer then to order our books for our families and facilitators through Akimbo Books. It was easy, fast, and Rachel was the most welcoming and even helped load the books into a team member's vehicle. Thanks, Akimbo!

This bookstore is such a gem! Whenever I travel I try to visit local bookstores and i’m so glad I got the chance to purchase a couple of books here including a collection of poetry from a Deaf poet that I had been looking for and the second installment of a series I love. I didn’t catch the name of the person working there today but they were so kind & welcoming which really made my last day visiting Rochester for the first time that much worth it! :)
