SUCH a cute place to hang out! The coffee trailer and the adjacent patio are great additions to an already remarkable and relaxing space! Can’t wait to come back! Books and products are on the pricier side, but it’s always great to support a local business. I admired the “Date with a book” wall, which featured unknown books wrapped in paper for you to purchase for a surprise read later on! So cute.

Grandmother’s is a beautifully designed bookstore and gathering space in Summerland that attracts a very specific crowd. Expect a Montecito set mixed with locals and curious visitors, all coexisting peacefully over books and coffee. First things first, the café situation. There is a retro Airstream parked outside, and coffee & pastries are served through a partnership with beloved local coffee biz Dart Coffee Co. Service runs daily from 7am to 5pm, Monday through Sunday. You can absolutely grab a coffee, sit on the side patio, and enjoy the vibe without buying a book. Low pressure. Very appreciated. Inside, there are two floors to explore with a solid selection of books, art, and gifts. The children’s section upstairs is especially sweet. The “blind date with a book” wall is a standout, and the staff pick recommendation cards are a thoughtful touch that makes browsing more fun. They also host private events, main stage conversations, workshops, and children’s storytimes. It’s co-owned by a former literary agent who runs in Oprah Winfrey circles, so yes, there is a little celebrity sparkle floating around. If you’re lucky and into that kind of thing, celebrity sightings can happen even during a casual browse, not just at ticketed events. There is a Founder’s Circle with a waitlist and a $250 per month price tag if you want exclusive events, early access, reservations, content, and café discounts. Not for everyone, but if that’s your lane, it exists. Dog friendly, aesthetically pleasing, and clearly designed as a community space. The main complaint people seem to have is parking, which honestly feels like a very Summerland problem. Avoid parking in the hilly neighborhood streets. Neighbors hate it. Go for the ambiance, the books, and the coffee. Stay if you feel inspired.

Absolutely love this book store! Always have the cutest blide date with the book collection/ recommendation you can choose a random book of! Even the children's book selection is one of the biggest around Santa Barbara! They even have a cute back coffee space that has great lattes and snacks as well! Even if you aren't a bookworm you could enjoy this beautiful store just with the ambiance but if you are a book worm it is a heaven that you can stay for hours just searching around!

This bookstore is absolutely gorgeous, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The selection is thoughtfully curated, offering a great variety of books for every interest. One of the highlights is the charming staircase leading to the second floor, adorned with beautiful pictures that add to the store's unique character. A perfect place to browse, relax, enjoy the outdoor cafe and find your next great read!

This is a beautiful, beautiful bookstore with dedicated sections for all age levels and interests. Specifically, the children’s section located upstairs is so inviting and warm. As a retired educator, I was especially impressed with the book selection and places for parents to read and select books with their children. Equally impressive are areas designated as reading or listening to books while enjoying thoughtfully-selected pieces of art. It appears, also, that the store could host special, small events. We loved our visit and will go back!
