Great to find a quaint small book store with a great selection and knowledgeable staff. I particularly liked that they had a display of "banned books". I made sure to purchase one and made note of several more. If I lived in the area, they would probably have to push me out the door at closing time!

Really confused about our experience considering the great reviews. I normally make the trek down to manteo to downtown books but figured I would give this place a try. “Not welcome” is the best way I can describe our experience. The cashier who I presumed to be the owner seemed friendly to all other customers except us. Should’ve trusted my gut and just put my two books back. I guess she assumed we were tourists so she wrote us off. I won’t be back.

I took my daughter and granddaughter to Island Bookstore on their last visit here from NYC and told my granddaughter "go for it"! She found several books here (yes, I bout all of them for her) including an autographed copy by her favorite author! She was overjoyed! The folks here were more than helpful and even said they could ship her books back to NYC! Awesome bookstore!!!!

First time at this location. Wonderful independent bookstore! The store has a wide selection of current books and all genres. We will definitely visit it again when we return to the Outer Banks!

Great bookstore with all the options you could want. I loved their different displays, highlighting titles I haven’t seen much. They had a table in the front with local authors/outer banks specific books. Check the back for their section of giveaways (free with a purchase) - that was one of my favorite parts! The staff member was knowledgeable and friendly. Parking was simple - free lot right outside the store. I had my 1 year old in an umbrella stroller and there were only a few tight corners that were tricky to get around, otherwise it was fine!
