Make Believe Books

I want to support this local bookstore, as it's a wonderful asset to the community, but every time I go there at their posted hours, they are closed. For the past five weekdays, they've had a note on the door that says, "Sorry—had to close early today! We'll open at our regular hours tomorrow." Except, then, they don't. It's hard to support a business that makes it so difficult to do so, and, frankly, doesn't seem to run like a business that wants to succeed. This is in response to the owners' note below: I'm sorry you were sick! And glad you are feeling better. But this has happened to me multiple times over the past few months, not just this week, when the store is not open at its posted hours, and your note sort of confirms what I meant about not really running the store like a business. Are you the only employee? Because then what happens if, well, you get sick for a week? If I can make a suggestion: When I called the store this week, to see if you were (ever) going to open, the phone just rang and rang and rang. Get an answering machine so that you can tell people the store's not open even though its hours say it is. Post something on social media. Send an email. Communicate with the people who want to support you. We'll understand! But don't just leave a note on the door saying "Sorry I had to leave early today, but we'll be open tomorrow regular hours." Especially when it isn't true.

Great selection of books and stationery, etc. the staff is very knowledgeable.

The owner is very helpful and welcomong to new shoppers, especially to little ones. The bookstore is well curated with classics and contemporary reads.
