New Book Joy

I am so excited to have New Book Joy in town - it is an absolute little gem! The owners are so warm and welcoming -- you can feel their love for books and community the moment you walk in. I went to one of their Books and Bites events at Happier Now (another great local find!) which featured a four-course tasting menu paired with hand-picked books, and it was incredible -- creative, delicious, and so thoughtfully done. It's not just a little bookstore; they make the most of their amazing community to bring people together and spark a real love of books.

WHAT A PLACE! Don’t be deterred by the small footprint of this store, the selection is highly curated and I don’t think it’s possible to buy a bad book here. I loved interacting (and gushing obviously) about books with one of the owners and am sad I live too far to visit often! Loved the fact that they support several other small Chicago businesses too. If you’re coming to get a book for a reading friend (or yourself) you’ll be able to pick from a great selection of books + little gifts. Every time I come back to Chicago this will absolutely be on my list of stops!

New Book Joy is such a wonderful experience! I went in a couple months ago to find gifts and was so happy with the selection (done with care), and the lovely conversation with the (one of?) owner. On top of that she gave me a branded pen that is quite literally the best writing pen I’ve ever used. I was writing in my journal yesterday and said you know what I need to go write a google review because this place is just top notch. Come for the lovely humans and books, stay for the 10/10 swag.
