LOVE LOVE LOVE Nos Books and we loved speaking with its owner. He was very kind and knowledgeable. We very much appreciated the conversation, as well as the small history of the Nos Books building. We’ll be back.

If you haven’t been to NOS Books yet, it’s a must see destination! Please check out Luis’ new space if you haven’t already. The space has been beautifully redone with lots of special touches, including the old bar from The Gaslamp! NOS books is dedicated to sharing stories that represent everyone, and that mission is clear the moment you walk in. So comfy, cozy, and safe. You might even see one of Luis’ daughters helping out in the shop — a true family business! Congratulations to the NOS Books family on their successful opening. Don’t wait to check this gem out!

I was in Des Moines for another event and decided to stop by Nos Books on a whim—and I’m so glad I did. The owner was incredibly welcoming and went out of his way to show me different parts of the store, even helping me pick out a couple of perfect books for a friend. He shared one of his own favorite reads with me, which made the whole experience feel personal and meaningful. The shop itself is inviting, beautifully curated, and full of a wide variety of books. I especially love their mission: “We are dedicated to helping people connect with a diverse collection of stories that help us see one another and ourselves. Nos means Us in Spanish, and you are invited to find and love those stories here, with us.” You can truly feel that intention the moment you walk in. If you’re in Des Moines—whether you planned it or not—make sure to stop by. This place is a gem.

Lovely space, very friendly owner, and an amazingly diverse collection of books! Want to read authors of color, LGBTQ+, and unique perspectives? This is the place for you! Charming little gem nestled right behind Dough Co, don’t miss it. Drake is lucky to have this new addition!

Visited here for Independent Bookstore Day and had a great time. There is a cozy seating spot and they have great selection. The staff member I spoke with was very friendly and was very helpful. I look forward to many more trips here
