NOS books is dedicated to sharing stories that represent everyone, and that mission is clear the moment you walk in. So comfy, cozy, and safe. I was in Des Moines for another event and decided to stop by Nos Books on a whim—and I’m so glad I did. The owner was incredibly welcoming and went out of his way to show me different parts of the store, even helping me pick out a couple of perfect books for a friend. He shared one of his own favorite reads with me, which made the whole experience feel personal and meaningful. The shop itself is inviting, beautifully curated, and full of a wide variety of books. I especially love their mission: “We are dedicated to helping people connect with a diverse collection of stories that help us see one another and ourselves. Nos means Us in Spanish, and you are invited to find and love those stories here, with us.” You can truly feel that intention the moment you walk in. If you’re in Des Moines—whether you planned it or not—make sure to stop by. This place is a gem.
