Half Price Books Des Moines

Brought books in to be sold and was told it was an hour and a half wait. Ok no problem, I’ll come back. Joke was on me. They said I have to stay in the store? What? The guy said it was a liability if I left? Hahahaha. Get out of here dude. It’s not hard to put names on bags and let people come back to pick up their cash.

I absolutely love going to Half Price Books. It has kind of become a personal problem. 😂 Prices are fair and the selection is plentiful! There is definitely something for every kind of reader here!

I like shopping here. I find some good books at, literally half the price. Which is great, and I like supporting used book stores. But I don’t think I’ll ever sell books here again. Many many times I have brought in 20-50 popular, well known books in fantastic condition and have left with less than 10 dollars. The offers only seem to be getting worse over the years. Today I brought in 20 books in near perfect condition, many of them extremely popular titles. And left with 6 dollars. I find that a bit ridiculous when they will absolutely sell those for at LEAST seven dollars a piece. I get that businesses have to make a profit but it’s not worth my time to stand in the store for over half an hour to get six dollars for books worth over 300 dollars. You’d think they could at least shell out a dollar per book, or heck, even 50 cents a book! I may still shop here but I will not sell books here again. Waste of time.

Great location. Great atmosphere. Easy to find. Friendly employees. Poor offers in attempting selling items. Received 10 times the amount offered at another 'used' shop. Will not attempt to sell items here any longer.
