We have used these outfitters a few times and they have done a great job. First of all, Ely is a beautiful town and a great place to start your boundary Waters journey. The outfitters were helpful all the way along from helping us get permits to choosing the right gear, etc. And whatever we couldn't find they told us where to search. Prices were quite reasonable and we will definitely be using them again!

Can't say enough good things about this outfit. Both their store, store and outfitting employees, and outfitting equipment was absolutely top notch and perfect. We ended up doing the Stargazing Trip (5 days) and it was perfect - the outfitting for us, the guide (Steve), and the area was great. Would do it again.

Piragis always provides the best gear, great advice, and terrific service. We and our friends and relatives have used them many times over the years and have never been disappointed. I just returned from a three day solo trip using one of their Wenonah Prism canoes and had a fabulous time.

This outfitter came highly recommended to me by somebody who works with many of the outfitters in the industry and they did not disappoint! We are excited to use them again this year for a trip to Little Gabbro. They are more than helpful on all things from trip planning as well as outfitting and have an amazing selection of new and used gear. Their newsletters are great. Looking forward to our trip and stopping by the store again soon!

I joined the 2025 Fall Colors trip at the end of September and it was a phenomenal experience throughout. Excellent communication from the team ahead of the trip, smooth logistics in Ely before and after, gear was great, food at camp was too. It was my first time camping in the BWCA so I really appreciated having the expertise to make it such a successful and fun trip. Saving the best for last -- LynnAnne was our guide and I don't think I could have imagined a better one if I tried. She was so knowledgeable, fun, and a great teacher. I'd take a trip to the moon if she led it. Thanks for the great memories, Piragis crew!
