Plaid Elephant Books

Our family loves Plaid Elephant. We have been amazed with the quality and variety of books for children and adults. It has become tradition to visit the store weekly to check out the latest books, toys, puzzles and of course, find Penelope the elephant 🐘. The store is welcoming and friendly to all. One of my favorite features is that one can order books on their website 😀 My son loves picture books and graphic novels as well as all the amazing events that the owners have organized, from book launches, reading to furry friends, or spin the wheel of prizes on Black Friday! The store has our love and appreciation.

We LOVE Plaid Elephant Books!! It’s our go to book store for both our 8 year old son and as parents. We can get family board games and all the books. The selection there is amazing and you can order a book if it isn’t there. The owner is extremely helpful and SO kind.

Our family LOVES the Plaid Elephant bookstore! They always organize family friendly activities that get the community engaged in our wonderful local small businesses and their store is the FIRST place we go to get birthday gifts for parties. My kids love sitting and playing new games in the YA room and we always find a new book to read when we visit. The Plaid Elephant is a “must visit” when in Central KY for any reader!

Plaid Elephant is a gem in Central, Kentucky. The bookstore offers a wide selection of children's books, carefully curated so children and parents can see themselves represented in the world. It also offers a vibrant young adult selection and even an adult selection of recent books. There are also puzzles and literary related accessories such as socks and earrings! I appreciate that I can order books online to pick up in person and can also ask the owner to order books that she doesn't currently carry. My partner worked with her to order beautiful editions of Tolkien books to give me as a present. Lastly, the store is a bright and happy place, with spaces for little ones to play, enjoy looking through books, and even a space for arts and crafts.
