River Road Books

No one is more disappointed than me that I’ve had negative experiences in this bookstore. I read a lot of romance, which they don’t carry much of, but I know that if you order directly from them, it’s a great way to support your local indie! However, even going in to pick up my books was unpleasant, and has led me to stop shopping there completely. I went to pick up my books, no one greeted me, the clerk working was in a personal convo with a friend and they were trying to close early to go get food. I tried to give space for them to finish their convo, but she eventually came over and said, “did you need something specific?” Which sounded more like, “do you need something or can I leave early?” 😅 I said I was there to pick up an order. She went and got it and then said, “thanks have a great day.” I felt dismissed so didn’t stay to shop because they were clearly trying to leave. Locked the door behind me 💀 it was at least 30 min before google said they closed.

Quick stop at this super nice small bookstore. It’s well organized, a wide range of books (including a children’s section) and also cute felt animals, puzzles, bookmarks, stickers and other nice little gift items.

River Road Books is one-of-a-kind! There are so few independent bookstores left, and this is right in the heart of the two river area. Community is key to this store, and they embody every aspect of it. I am a regular customer and they are constantly decorating for the seasons, as well as adding personal recommendations for each book an employee has read. Must stop by if you are at the Jersey shore!

The owners of this store are just so amazing! Both Karen and Laurie are helpful and friendly. We love visiting and experiencing the small town feel of their space!
