Thunder Road Books is located in the idyllic town of Spring Lake along the New Jersey Shore, two blocks in from the beach. We opened our doors on May 22, 2021 and have been blown away by the energy, enthusiasm, and number of books weve been selling ever since. The independent bookstore is alive and well at the Shore! The owner, Basil Iwanyk, is a film producer who satisfied a long-standing dream of opening a bookstore after he and his family moved back to Spring Lake from Los Angeles last year. His credits include The Town, the John Wick films, the Sicario films, A Star is Born, Wind River, Greenland and many others. The store is managed by former special education middle and elementary teacher, Kate Czyzewski. Thunder Road Books specializes in music and film books, as well as selling frontlist and children's selections.

Outstanding Customer Service – Went Above and Beyond! I recently ordered a signed copy of a book from this bookstore, but unfortunately the one that arrived wasn’t signed. I emailed them about it, and Kate responded almost immediately with genuine concern and a clear plan to make it right. Not only did she quickly arrange to send me a properly signed copy, but she didn’t even ask me to return the unsigned one (which was incredibly generous). When the new book arrived, I was absolutely blown away – not only was it signed by the author, but the author had included a lovely personal message! This level of care and effort is rare these days. Kate and the team turned what could have been a disappointing experience into one that left me genuinely thrilled and impressed. Their customer service is truly exceptional, and I can’t recommend this bookstore highly enough. Thank you, Kate, and thank you to the whole team — for the outstanding customer service and for taking care of my order! 📚❤️

Very nice local bookstore only a few minutes from the beach. Was pretty packed on Christmas Eve and had a lot to pick from!

Thunder Road Books is a true standout in Spring Lake. The selection of authors is amazing, with thoughtful representation of diverse voices that makes browsing especially meaningful and enjoyable. Every shelf feels carefully curated. The space itself is beautiful, warm, and inviting, and the service is just as wonderful. Knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about books. A must visit for any book lover.

Thunder Road is a fantastic bookstore. Kate, the manager and all the staff are great. The new store is bigger with lots of beautiful displays and windows. They offer recommendations from what’s in stock if you aren’t sure what to buy, or are able to order things they don’t have. Highly recommend!

An AWESOME bookstore with everything you could want to read. The boss is a very helpful and great, with great staff members also who help you find whatever you want to read. I’d recommend them ALL to Everyone!
