Slant of Light Books

Very cute store! Me and my friend stopped in to avoid the rain and was surprised at how great the book selection was. We were greeted by the owners husband and he made us feel seen and was very attentive. We got distracted by the ISpy, however we did find all of them and it just made our stay more fun. We ended up grabbing some several books and candles. (I suggest the bookworm candle) This was a great birthday side quest 🎂 we will be back! 🙌🏾

Cute little store, with a super nice owner. Solid selection, and it's in an easy to reach location. Being a basement store seems especially right for a book store. They also also integrated with bookshop.org for digital books that don't go to a mega Corp, and integrated with Shop if you want to track receipts. Super easy and fast to order books to the store as well.

If you go down the stairs and through the door, you’ll find this cozy, charming gem. It has a beautiful, curated selection and there was even a sweet children’s nook for our toddler to explore. My husband and I found exactly what we were looking for and the owner is lovely. Please support local businesses like hers. Stopping here was a highlight of our Chicago visit!

SO thrilled to have found Slant of Light Books! This shop is just what the neighborhood needed, Old Town/Gold Coast has been missing a cozy independent bookstore. Wide assortment of new and excellent condition used books; shelved and organized clearly; and very affordably priced. Stop by to chat with the friendly and knowledgeable shop owner, Jess--she's officially Old Town's very own Kathleen Kelly! Can't wait to see more from this shop as it grows, will be recommending to all my friends :)
