Solid State Books (14th)

I fell in love with this black-owned independent LGBTQ+ friendly bookstore! There was a vast selection of genres including a cute little children’s books section. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I really could have stayed there all day but they don’t really have any seating. I think I saw one bench that my partner sat on waiting for me to finish perusing! Lol! I’m so glad we found this place!

Solid State always comes through for me! I just got the cutest gift for my godson's birthday and was also able to pick up my book club book for next month at the same time. And the staff are SO patient and kind. Highly reccomend Solid State for your local bookstore (and more!)

Absolutely amazing bookstore!! Visiting from Alabama and I've never been into such an inviting and diverse bookstore. Went in just looking and left with 2 books and a bunch of recommendations, staff was so friendly and helpful. If you're in D.C. (living or visiting) this is a must visit books store!!

I love local indie bookstores ! I’ve been trying to hit all the DMV ones (East City Books, Kramers, Old Town Books, and Politics and Prose done! - People’s Book next - let me know if there are others that need to be on my radar!) However, let’s talk about Solid State Books. Lovely shop for new books. I barely got past the staff recommendations which were set up first bookshelf on the right as I entered. The recommendations were amazing (I may be biased because I already own/have read quite a few) as well as diverse. Which we love to see, since reading is for everyone ! The staff were very nice and helpful. I found a couple books easily, but was impressed by their selection. It’s spacious and no stairs needed to access the entire store. Next time you are in the area for Trader Joe’s or food/drink reservations, you should take a minute to visit this bookstore !!
