The Last Bookstore is pure magic. This place feels less like a bookstore and more like a cathedral for books. The architecture alone is worth the visit—towering columns, high ceilings, hidden nooks, and multiple levels that invite you to wander without a plan. Every turn feels intentional, from the curated displays to the cozy corners where you can pause and actually be with a book. The selection is massive and thoughtfully organized, with both new and used books, plus art books, rare finds, and unexpected gems. Even the upstairs areas feel like a secret waiting to be discovered. It’s lively without being overwhelming, creative without being pretentious, and one of those rare spaces that reminds you why physical bookstores still matter. Whether you’re a serious reader or just soaking in the atmosphere, this is a must-visit stop in downtown LA. I could easily lose hours here—and happily would.

The Last Bookstore is one of those places that instantly pulls you in. It’s not just a bookstore — it feels like a creative space where literature, art, and curiosity collide. Beyond the massive book selection, there’s a café inside and several small art shops that make the whole place feel alive and layered. There are also iconic photo spots, like the famous tunnel made entirely of books and a framed opening that looks straight out of a surreal installation. Even if you’re not a big reader, it’s worth visiting just to wander, explore, and soak in the atmosphere. Perfect for taking your time, discovering unexpected corners, and leaving with more than you planned.

The Last Bookstore is such a cool place to visit, it’s more than just a bookstore. They have a great mix of new and used books, plus rare finds and tons of different genres. I spend 2 hours browsing the shelves, I took photos at the book tunnel upstairs. There’s also a vinyl section and local art displays. The staff is super friendly and the books have good value. It can get busy on weekends, but it’s worth it.

The Last Bookstore in the Historic Bank District is within a historic bank in downtown Los Angeles. The bookstore is unique with two stories, a variety of topic sections, unique reading nooks, books in vaults, a café, shops, audio records, and more. When inside your are surrounded by books, history, and wonder from the books, sections, and decorated and artistic themes. I highly recommend the visit. You can spend hours.

Awesome bookstore and art gallery. They have a section of collectable and rare books that is super book. The main collection is a mix of new and vintage books nicely curated. They have a large section of vintage vinyl records. Upstairs they have a small coffee shop, several artist boutiques, and several more book sections. This place has a super cool character overall.
