Bookstore1 is such a gem in Sarasota. They’ve been in this new location for a few years and it’s a nice spot to go into and roam about before purchasing. I spent almost 2 hours in here recently and nobody rushed me— just kept asking if I needed help or recommendations. The staff is attentive and kind. One of my favorites spots to get lost indoors in Sarasota.

Bookstore 1 Sarasota is such a charming gem in downtown Sarasota and hands-down my favorite bookstore I’ve ever been in. I’ve completely lost track of time in here more than once, wandering the shelves in search of my next beach read (and somehow never leaving with just one). The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and always happy to make thoughtful recommendations. I especially love their “Staff Picks,” where team members highlight their favorites and share why they loved them—it makes choosing your next book both fun and easy. Cozy, welcoming, and perfectly curated, this bookstore is a must-visit for book lovers.

My wife got great books here and because she went with my son before closing, one of the store attendants offered to bring them back home. They are so nice and caring. I as a father appreciate the help a lot. Thank you.

A warm and welcoming bookstore with a great selection of titles, from the classics to current favorites. We browsed for over an hour and still could have stayed longer. Friendly staff and a well-lit space made Bookstore1 a great find. We will be back.
