Its an immersion of culture, reading vibrations, essential reading presence. Just amazing! This place feels like it was birthed from readying Rainbow.

My favorite bookstore in Chicago! Staff are so friendly and give excellent personalized recommendations. The carefully curated selection of books feature people of color and I just want to read every single one of them! They host really fun events too like book clubs, trivia nights, author events, adult mixers and children’s story time, make sure to check out their Instagram or website!

What a welcoming place to discover great reads, get cozy, and enjoy them. This bookstore is so thoughtfully curated with a range of genres from authors of color. The owner is super kind and knowledgeable and has notes all around the store for various books she’s enjoyed. She helped me find a book that was perfect for the person I was buying for. They also have some great events coming up featuring local authors and businesses!

It's not often that you walk into a shop and feel immediately at home. In the current political climate, and with more and more outward displays of misogyny and racism, Call & Response is a sanctuary. The selection of books is fantastic -- I picked up a collection of Audre Lorde writings and "Never Whistle at Night" an anthology of indigenous dark fiction. The owners are so wonderfully kind. I am so excited to visit more often and witness the wonderfulness and knowledge C&R brings to the community. Great job, y'all!
