Dungeon's Gate

This is my happy place. Games AND books...? Your wallet will not be happy with you when you leave. I have gotten several books and board games from here and I have to say that I have not yet been disappointed. The staff is super friendly and always down to give recommendations for games and books. There is also a place where you can resell up to 3 board games at a time! I have done so and received store credit for what the game sold for. Such a great deal if you are wanting to clean out your collection and get new games/books to enjoy.

Dungeon's Gate is in my top 2 places to buy boardgames in all the Des Moines metro area. The staff are always warm and welcoming and whenever I have questions on how good a game is, they share their experiences or they find reviews. They have a wide selection and variety of games from the easy and quick, to the more strategic games that take awhile. They also have RPG games and books/manuals like Dungeons and Dragons and a cool selection of dice and spell cards. Speaking of cards, they also have collectible cards like Pokémon. For those that like to read, they have a smaller selection comic books as well as books of different genres. I've been impressed when I see the lineup of their events and clubs. There are more than I can remember, so check out their Facebook page for details. They have tables for gaming and small snack section if you need to refuel without making a trek out for food. Overall, they're a great store that is welcoming and inclusive to all people. Worthy of your business and a fun time whether your there or bringing a game or 2 home to play with friends and family!

This is a shockingly great game store and book store. We are not from the area, but tend to visit local game stores when we visit places. This one is one of the best. It has a great selection of games, but we were surprised to find also a great curated selection of fantasy novels as well. We spent almost as much time looking at books as games. We were there around Christmas, where they were having sales on board games. While we were there, they also were having an open play Pokemon, which seemed to be a regular thing for Saturdays. I am very jealous, actually, of the store and wish it was closer to where we lived, so we could visit more.

This is a top tier store for board games and d&d. The staff knows their stuff and ensure every customer leaves satisfied. I'm happy to pay retail to support a local business as respectable as Dungeon's Gate.
