Hi-Voltage Records & Book

I miss being able to walk into record stores and peruse the selection so when I saw this place I just had to go in. They had a pretty good selection, especially vinyl (though I don't own a record player). The place was great, though it saddened me a little (this is not the store's fault at all). My musical tastes are varied and eclectic, and in my younger days record stores were a great place to discover new artists that weren't Billboard 100. Most of what they sell is used so it's based on what people bring in, and based on the inventory, people are by and large pretty pedestrian in their tastes. I'm not trying to be elitist, listen to what you want to listen to. It just made me sad to realize exactly what we've lost in the transition to digital. Anyway, I still plan on going back from time to time because you never know when you'll find that gem, and it's always worth it to support these types of stores. Who knows, maybe we'll start seeing these again. Wouldn't that be lovely?

Super rad store. We were expecting records but also found new and used books as well as cool merch. A little busy and overwhelming to look through the records and I’ll always wish the aisles were bigger so disabled people like myself can sit and flip through, but I know this is typical of music stores anyway. Oh well! At least there were no steps to get inside!

Great variety of cool things! Stickers, books, vinysl, cds, 45s, posters, t-shirts. HUGE selection! The staff was super knowledgeable and helpful as well. Can't wait to go back and score some more loyalty stamps!

Picked up some great EJ album finds. Two of them were on our list for a long time. Wide selection, a bit thin on the blu rays. No 4k's that I could find. I was surprised they had so many books. Helpful people behind the counter. Reasonable prices. I'm adding this store to the must visit when ever I'm in Tacoma.
