Matilija Lending Library

Awesome and adorable little lending library with an interesting selection emphasizing local and POC authors, stories and experiences. Great for the community. Every aspect of the place is done with love and care. Would love to sit and chill there again for a quiet afternoon. Have already gotten me to read a book for the first time in over a year!

A beautiful, community-oriented library centering on BIPOC authors founded by local community activists. This is the perfect place to discover a great new book and be inspired by new ideas for change. I love how intentional the decor and books are- definitely pay a visit and you will be surprised what you find in this charming space.

Matilija is a lending library that focuses on having books and stories that elevate the BIPOC community that makes up San Gabriel Valley, and LA county as a whole. Their selection caters to the population of their community and it makes a huge impact! I appreciate knowing that any book I find there will be an enriching story. it is also one of the few places where you can hang out without having to buy anything which is really nice (: so for anyone who needs a remote study/work space, they have wifi! i had a great experience borrowing books from them. they even let me keep the book that i fell in love with!

Matilija is the finest library and bookstore I have ever been to. An amazing variety of POC books and SGV books are placed within the racks of this institution. They order cute cards and stickers (great for gifts). They hold amazing community spaces and have spectacular service. 10/10
