McKay’s is our go to place to bring our books for bookstore credit to get new or used books & items there. We brought in 2 bins of military & children's books at McKays this November 2025. We got over $75 of credit to use in the store. We used the credit to buy various books and oracle cards. We got for $2.99 of credit - a giant book with color photos & history of indigenous people in North America - retailing at $50. Lots of fantastic deals on books - some were brand new and still sealed. Both oracle decks were brand new & still sealed - over 50% off regular price. Overall, we had a great day in McKay's.

We absolutely love this bookstore and stop in about once a month. The selection is incredible and the prices are amazing. We homeschool, and McKay's makes it considerably more affordabls to find enrichment materials. I am especially impressed by their supply of historical coloring books. My last visit I went in to gather books for our medieval unit study and found everything I needed!

I absolutely LOVE McKay’s. Always have, been coming here for years. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help direct you or find you what you’re looking for. Their 99cent CDs bring out the best sound quality in my car over my streaming on my phone so when I find CDs here I like it’s hard to pass up. They also have some of the best deals in the game on books and miscellaneous video games otherwise overlooked. If you’re looking for anything retro/nostalgic, chances are they have it. Five stars. Out of 5.

It’s a cool store with a good selection of random stuff. I enjoy walking around in there because it’s definitely a place to find stuff you won’t see anywhere else ! I was a bit aggravated however that they close the bathrooms so early. I mean , I guess this is A way to go home early after the store closes , but with several employees standing around chit chatting, is it a big deal to close the bathrooms and clean them after the store closes ? You lost a sale tonight, because we had at least $100 worth of merchandise but had to leave to find a bathroom. Hope it’s worth it !

I usually love going to McKay's as they have a good selection of books, games, music, and more. I will say that visiting McKay's on the weekends is a little disappointing as the selection has already been picked through and what's left over is usually mediocre. I'm leaving this review due to the experience I had trading today. I've never traded with McKay's before, but I've worked with other used bookstores in the past. I was excited to trade today because I've been hoarding books that do not serve their purpose to me anymore. I came in with many books, most were brand new and in good condition, and a few were a little older and more beat up. I brought in at least 10 books, some were even hardback. I talked to the young man at the trade counter and he informed me how the process worked. I put in my phone number and I received a text when my trade was processed. For all of my books, I was offered either $15 in store credit or $5 in cash. I opted for the store credit because I was hoping to get at least one new book. I then received a voucher for $14.20, which was not our agreed upon price. I decided this was fine as I needed to free up some space for new books. I looked around for a new book and I found one that I had been wanting for a while, which was priced at $13.99. I brought the book up to the counter to checkout and with taxes, the difference from the full price and the voucher was 60 cents. I asked my friend to cover the difference and he reached for his card to pay when the cashier informed us they could not charge the card for only 60 cents. They suggested that we could add something small to the purchase so that they could charge the card. This is what we ended up doing, but we ended up paying $20 for something we didn't really want just to use the voucher for a $14 book. The cashier was also not very polite even though I was. The fact that you can turn in 10 books and not even be able to purchase one book with the store credit offered is ridiculous. In the future I will not be trading with McKay's, and I probably won't be purchasing from McKay's in the future either as they are pricing books as if they're brand new when they aren't and only offering a few cents to purchase them in the first place. For other people looking to part with their books or other physical media, I suggest any other used bookstore or even online options such as Ebay and ThriftBooks.
