The tiny shop with a big heart! Just as the name says, our store fills a tiny but memorable footprint. And you can be assured that with every book, gift, or piece of art that you purchase You will also be supporting KC animal shelter and literacy groups. Founded by a local teen, this charming store highlights seven books worth noticing each month. Our store founder also still operates a free, community-based bookmobile that appears between May and October, giving out 500+ books per year at outdoor events and pop-ups. Thursday evenings regularly feature local authors and artists. Mandarin and Spanish language titles are stocked year-round. We are also proudly disability-accessible and are Women/Asian-owned.

What a wonderful bookshop. A great selection of classic (To Kill a Mockingbird) and recent titles. Unique cards, local items, and gifts. There is even a cute play corner for the kids. Visited with the owner and she was very knowledgeable and friendly. This was my first visit of many more to come!!!

One of the best local book stores I've ever been to! Halley is so warm and personable, and even remembered us and what we bought after only 2 visits! If you are looking for a book, or to chat about books, don't miss stopping into this amazing and welcoming store.

Love this place! The owner is so sweet and welcoming! They just opened but when you walk in it feels so comfortable and welcoming! The selection of books is such a fun browse. They also have a puzzle out for community to participate. They have a wonderful pay what you can space of books! Best day due to finding this gem in Kansas City!

Nestled away on Johnson Drive, SSB is what a neighborhood bookstore use to be. Personal attention from the owner/operator with a wide selection of book and gifts for friends and family (and yourself). You want fantasy? Mystery? Little Golden Books? Brochures on local mushroom foraging? Kiddo, they got it! I always come in to a warm and inviting atmosphere with excellent book recommendations. 5 stars. Always happy to stop by.

A lovely indie bookstore hidden away in Shawnee. Definitely stop by, there are used books, new books, local honey, art, greeting cards and games! The owner was manning the counter and was a delight to talk with as we browsed. She had suggestions on topics we might enjoy and she was warm and friendly to talk to. I will be back!
