The most precious little shop I’ve ever seen. It is intimate and cozy. Quite literally packed floor to ceiling with books. It is an experience. We had done no research prior to our visit and were pleasantly surprised by a visit from the owner’s beautiful cat. It was our first trip to Portsmouth and I can’t wait to come back simply to stop in this store again. I snagged a signed copy of a book I’d been eyeing. Truly a must see on any trip to Portsmouth or the surrounding area!

Visited Sheafe Street Books and could not leave empty handed. There is always a story waiting to be read. Picked up two chefs must haves and classics The Joy of Cooking and Julia Child for a chef friend. A cozy shop filled with history stories and great finds. Supporting local shops helps keep stories like this alive in Portsmouth.

Wonderful bookstore!! Owner was super helpful and pulled out amazing old books from the 1700s and 1800s including Bibles. Highly recommend visiting! These old books were so cool to see!!!

Small 📚 bookstore with lots of new 🆕 and used books. The bookstore is someone's home. You may meet the owners 14 year old cat 🐈. The cat was in good shape for her age. She didn't greet you but would let you pet her. The books are separated into genres and even the Grateful Dead have their own section. If you like books and want to find a good deal, I recommend this bookstore.

Cozy quaint quirky spot, perfect to enjoy something personal & non-mass-consumerized. Be sure to give Petunia the cat some head scratches. She & her human in this book nook are my favorite things about Portsmouth.
