Sunny's Bookshop

I stumbled upon Sunny’s Bookshop a few months ago on a whim, hoping to support more local businesses — and what a find. From the moment I walked in, Sunny and her mom Miriam made me feel like I’d stepped into something out of a Hallmark movie. The shop is warm, thoughtfully curated, and radiates the kind of charm that’s hard to fake. The front of the store is a cozy mix of beautifully displayed teacups, candles, face oils, and other small-business treasures — eclectic in the best way. As you move through, you’ll find not just books, but stories waiting to be discovered, each one handpicked by Sunny with clear attention and care. If she doesn’t have what you’re looking for, she’ll gladly order it and get it to you quickly — that kind of service is rare. It’s also not your average flower shop. Their dried floral arrangements are lovely, but it’s Miriam’s custom designs that really shine. She has a natural talent for combining color, texture, and mood — it’s like she’s creating bouquets with soul. While I haven’t yet had the chance to attend one of Sunny’s in-store events, I’ve talked with her about some of the gatherings she puts together — and it’s clear how much heart and thought goes into every single one. She works hard to bring in respected authors and local artists that her customers will connect with, and she’s constantly brainstorming new ways to make the shop a meaningful space for the community. It’s that kind of intention and passion that sets this place apart. Since that first visit, Sunny’s has become one of my regular stops — a place that feels like home. Every customer is greeted like a friend, and it always amazes me how many names and faces Sunny and Miriam remember. It’s more than a bookshop — it’s a place built with love, care, and a true sense of community.

I discovered Sunny's Bookshop back in November of last year and became obsessed with it and the owners immediately! This beautiful little treasure in Tarzana is my now favorite place to go, attached to one of my favorite coffee spots. Everything about this shop is perfect. From the hidden treasure's that Sunny's mom hand crafts, to the selection of books, the knick knacks, and most of all the people and customer service. I eventually got to know Sunny and her mom but I would've never returned had it not been for their warm disposition and excellent customer service. 12/10 recommend stopping in and supporting.

Sunny’s Bookshop is the best and we are so lucky to have it in Tarzana. It’s a charming small bookshop that also has a flower shop, Sunny’s mom runs Shades of Petals. It only gets better because it’s also adjacent to Laidrey Coffee! What more could you want? There are lots of nice gift items, a nice selection of new books, and a small section of used books. Whatever they don’t have they wil order for you- my new favorite way to buy books! It’s fun to visit and great to support such a needed addition to our community that is also family (and female) owned and run.

I was meeting my daughter for coffee and had such a lovely surprise walking next door into first the beautiful flower shop "Shades of Petals" and then discovered Sunny's Bookshop! What a beautiful treasure this family owned and operated book shop is-nestled inside what such a unique florist. What a great duo. Upon entering the store, I loved the warm feeling of the decor, and the soft fragrance of flowers. As I walked around, a woman came from the back and was very friendly, answered a couple of my questions but definitely gave me enough space that I did not feel pressured-I LOVE that! I love supporting family owned businesses- especially when you find one that is unique, carries quality products, has knowledge on what they are offering and outstanding customer service. I look forward to watching and helping this lovely business thrive and grow!
